Summary of job description
The Escrow Law program in the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) is looking for a student assistant to assist the program with various administrative and procedural tasks in which the student will gain valuable insight into the department’s oversight of financial service providers and the protection to consumers.
Terms of service
This is a part-time, temporary, non-privileged, student post. Employment in all positions at University Enterprises, Inc. is subject to the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. either the employee can terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause.
Depending on the type of job you are applying for, an employment background check may consist of one or more of the following: employment history, professional references, criminal control, educational verification (ie degree, license or official copy)) and physical examination and urinalysis test. Applicants must pass the required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises Inc., (UEI) and the hiring agency or division.
Flexible, from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 17:00. The final schedule will be determined between student and supervisor.
Student assistants and graduate student assistants typically work up to 20 hours per work week (Sunday-Saturday) and up to 40 hours per work week during the academic year; (Winter, spring and summer).

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) provides consumer protection and services to businesses engaged in financial transactions. The Department regulates a variety of financial services, products and professionals. The Department oversees the operations of state-licensed financial institutions, including banks, credit unions, money launderers, issuers of payment instruments and travelers checks, and premium finance companies. The department also licenses and regulates a variety of financial businesses, including securities brokers and dealers, investment advisers, deferred deposits (commonly known as payday loans) and certain trusts and lenders. The Department regulates the supply and sale of securities, franchises and foreign merchandise.

Applicants must be reliable, punctual, flexible in the schedule, able to follow directions, able to communicate with different staff and the general public. Able to do multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and has a good attendance record. Must have experience in using Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be able to work at least 16 hours a week.
Must be a university student attending classes at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our contact list during the regular term (autumn, spring and winter, if applicable).

Duties and responsibilities
- Assist with the management of incoming annual audit reports.
- Assist with the management of incoming responses from licensed escrow companies.
- Assist with the review of the Summary of Personnel Applications for Employee Consent.
- File management.
- Shipping of mail.
- General administrative duties.
Sit for a long time; stand and walk regularly; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; hearing and vision corrected to normal range; Verbal communication; use of office equipment, including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, scanners and fax machines, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work is performed in an office environment.
