The Dallas City Attorney’s Torts Section is looking for an energetic, self-motivated attorney who is eligible to practice in Texas and has a good job at the Texas Bar to hold a full-time position. The Damages Division is responsible for the criminal prosecution of Class C violations and violations of municipal ordinances in the Dallas Municipal Court. Class C offenses include traffic offenses, assault, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and theft.

The damages department also represents the city of Dallas in the following civil proceedings: administrative judgment in the trial officer’s court, dangerous appeals for dogs, appeals over parking, stormwater proceedings, and foreclosure. This position can also serve as the prosecutor in the city’s community courts, including special initiatives and special dossiers.

Applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as a joint, problem-solving mindset. Applicants must currently be licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.

Salary corresponds to experience. The city’s comprehensive benefits package comes with the ranking. This position is exempt from the provisions applicable to public service, in accordance with Chapter XVI, Section 9 of the Dallas City Charter. Minimum qualifications

A bachelor’s degree, a degree from an accredited law school, and a license to work in the state of Texas are required. Candidates must have at least three to five years of legal experience.
