Under the direct supervision of the Marketing and Sales Director, the Marketing Assistant assists with routine administrative tasks related to the marketing of up to 175 new books and a backlog of more than 3,000 books. This role also helps the marketing and sales director and marketing team with a variety of tasks aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the marketing team in general.
This role is important for the press because it provides administrative assistance to a dynamic and effective marketing team that ensures efficiency and productivity at all times. The role is responsible for, but not limited to, the following: work with the marketing and sales director to contact authors with requests for information; entry of data into the press’ system-wide database; liaising with authors and other CUP staff to create a descriptive copy for each published book; metadata creation and database maintenance; general administrative tasks; coordinate with other departments; and assist in drafting marketing plans for new and backlog books.
This position is located in Ithaca, New York. The successful applicant will be asked to fulfill this role remotely at a location of their choice in the United States. This position can be considered for continuous distance work, even if the campus allows more employees to work on campus.
Formal training after a high school diploma of one to two years, two years of college coursework or an associate’s degree, six months to one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Proficient with standard office software and applications. Familiarity with database software (preferably FileMaker Pro). Great attention to detail and excellent communication skills. The ability to balance multiple tasks and meet the requirements of many individuals.
