Job description: Associate Professor or Professor (permanent / open position) and Division Chairperson Job Description: College of Education and Human Development; Department of Elementary, Middle, and Secondary Teacher Education: Division chair (associate professor or professor), guided by its cardinal principles, seeks the University of Louisville (UofL) to become a leading anti-racist metropolitan research university. To help achieve this goal, the Department of Elementary, Middle and Secondary Teacher Education (EMSTEd) within the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) is seeking a visionary leader to fill the post of departmental chair. The EMSTEd Division Chair oversees the administration of a department of 17 full-time faculties and staff and supports the success of teaching, scholarship and service in undergraduate and postgraduate programs to accomplish the core mission of the department: to prepare teachers to exemplify to be professional practitioners who are strong in their content knowledge as well as in effective research information, culturally sustainable and equity-oriented pedagogy. The department offers a variety of teacher training programs (elementary, middle, and secondary; single and dual content area certification; traditional undergraduate and graduate degrees; and alternative certification routes, including the Louisville Teacher Residency). Members of the department work through clinically rich courses on programs that are transformative for different stakeholders (eg pedagogy that responds to the unique needs of diverse audiences, to promote teaching / learning and social justice. Key responsibilities The EMSTEd division chairperson is responsible for cultivating, articulating and implementing a vision for the department’s research, teaching and service programs.Additional duties include advocates for departmental faculties, staff and students; coordinating accreditation processes; establishing and maintaining a departmental climate conducive to academic progress; and the management and allocation of resources.� Required qualifications Proof of commitment to the principles of anti-racism, diversity, social justice and cultural interviews pedagogical Administrative or leadership experience, such as department chair, assistant chair and / or programvo chair in teacher education or related field Proof of excellence in teaching and the ability to guide junior and clinical faculties and doctoral students Evidence of joint leadership style and experience in tackling staff decisions Commitment to maintaining and improving high-quality, accredited programs Terminal degree in a field related to elementary, middle and / or secondary teacher education Preference qualifications Demonstrate successful bursary and application in the field related to the position Experience that will earn term of office and rank of Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Elementary, middle and secondary teacher training Proficiency in clear communication and systemic and creative thinking Experience collaboration with mid-career and senior faculty involved in university and community partnership work. stands before the department in the current climate of higher education Experience in facilitating the acquisition of external funding Local context: The University of Louisville (UofL) is a leading metropolitan research university with three campuses and approximately 22,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students .
