Why is this role important? SUMMARY:
To assist with the technical functions of issuing prescriptions, you must, if necessary, assist with the delivery of pharmacy services and participate in the maintenance and operations of the pharmacy, as described by the pharmacy standards, and to provide excellent, timely and pleasant service. to deliver to customers.

Customer service

  • Greet the customer immediately and gather information on prescriptions according to the standard operating procedures
  • Perform duties in priority according to the role assigned to the role assignment schedule
  • Consult the pharmacist for all clinical inquiries, for example those related to the purpose of the medication, its use and recommendations (including prescriptions, OTCs and products with limited sales); diseases and conditions; professional fees; and other inquiries as required by law or company policy

  • Provide accurate information in response to customer inquiries (eg Store Policies, Loyalty), according to • Standard Operating Procedures. Resolve customer issues according to established standards, and ensure appropriate intervention by the pharmacist
  • Draw the client’s attention to literature or information as required
  • Ensure that clients who require counseling (OTC or Rx as defined by industry standards and / or legal policies) are referred to the pharmacist in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Maintain and control the cash register in the pharmacy in accordance with cash handling policies and procedures
  • Control customer inquiries both in person and by telephone
  • Adhere to all confidentiality and privacy requirements


  • Receive new and repeat prescription orders according to standard operating procedures
  • Prepare orders (e.g. medicines, OTCs, special orders), with the exception of controlled drugs and narcotics
  • Review third-party invoices, online and manage manual third-party accounts, and make outstanding money with customers where necessary
  • Answer telephone, and ensure that the appropriate telephone label is observed at all times and refer to a pharmacist if necessary
  • Manage incoming faxes according to pharmacy standards
  • Help pharmacist coordinate returns
  • Identify patients who are candidates for pharmacy services, and tailor administrative support to the pharmacist
  • Contact the doctor’s offices if necessary (eg for special authorization requests, etc.) and maintain all relevant documentation
  • Complete the completed documentation on time and organized according to pharmacy standards
  • Generate reports as needed

Duties when selling pre-shops

  • Order and maintain goods without a prescription in the pharmacy, including stock rotation and the management of an expired product
  • Helps with opening / closing the lock and loosening panels / gates
  • Assist with removal and replacement of patient education and health related signs

Prescription workflow

  • Assist with the preparation of prescriptions according to the company’s standards and professional services
  • Entry of data for new prescriptions and management of supplement requests, assess third party claim in accordance with pharmacy standards; Review and modify third-party records
  • Choose medicine to fill prescriptions according to the pharmacy standards and the choice of brands
  • Count or measure, pack and label prescriptions according to pharmacy standards, and ensure that all relevant information and documentation is complete
  • May be required to mix, compile or compile prescriptions as prescribed and under the supervision of the pharmacist
  • Accept written prescription or refill requests from clients in person or by telephone
  • Enter the relevant data accurately and keep it within the appropriate pharmacy systems
  • Resolve technical issues by contacting IT Service Desk or third party judges
  • Ensure that prescriptions are prioritized correctly in accordance with the workflow
  • Collect relevant communication pieces for prescription recording

Inventory Management

  • May be required under the guidance and supervision of the pharmacist to perform inventory management
  • Maintain the medicine properly according to the 5S principles in the pharmacy
  • Ensure that stock bottles are discarded in accordance with the established workflow
  • Maintain an ongoing inventory system in Kroll and Health Watch Next Generation / Delta
  • Ensure regular replenishment of pharmacies and supplies, ie BTC and special order
  • Unpack the pharmacy bottles and receive them in a safe environment
  • Make sure that the narcotic stock is received in full and that the records are updated under the direct supervision of a pharmacist
  • Dispose of the pharmacy stock in a suitable place according to the established workflow
  • Manage customers’ returns and products that have expired in accordance with the established disposal protocol (eg Stericycle One Box)
  • Prioritize recall and isolate the product immediately; quarantine until details of the revocation are provided
  • Make sure that the rotation of the stock is complete and that the expired product is removed from the shelf and returned according to the standard operating procedures
  • Management of preferred generic product, e.g. PGL or DSP
  • Perform cycle counts in accordance with standard operating procedures

General / Other

  • Provide support and assistance to the pharmacist (s) as needed, ultimately with a view to improving the pharmacist / client relationship
  • Maintain the professional image (clothing) and behavior at all times
  • Promote marketing programs as appropriate and necessary
  • Reads and responds regularly to communication vehicles (eg Communication Binder, Communication Board)
  • Ensure proficiency with Pharmacy Systems
  • Follow standard operating procedures and pharmacist’s instructions, and adhere to all legal requirements, including provincial and federal regulations and bipartisan laws
  • Comply with all established loss prevention policies and procedures
  • Maintain neatness of the workspace according to the principles of 5s

Skills and qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • A diploma of a pharmacy assistant is credited
  • Previous pharmacy experience preferred
  • Retail experience an asset
