The normal expectation is that the successful applicant will be appointed on the minimum of the scale on 1 August each year (subject to six months’ service).

It is a fixed term until 31/08/2022.

The main purpose of the post

The UKSeRP (UK Secure Research Platform) is a technology developed within the Population Data Science group within Swansea University Medical School. Swansea University works with organizations in the UK and worldwide to share knowledge and experience on the platform. To support the storage and secure sharing of research data sets to support research activities.

Following the success of the SAIL database support, the infrastructure used to provide the SAIL database has been identified as suitable for presenting datasets to other research groups in Swansea, and to the interest of organizations in Australia and Canada, there is implementation at 2 locations outside the UK.

The technical team within the Population Data Science Group develops solutions to support research activities and improve accessibility to research datasets by exploring the latest opportunities open source and products offered by vendors.

The purpose of the role is to assist the technical team to effectively manage the administrative aspects of the daily activities. The postmaster is responsible for the management and facilitation of a variety of technical team-related groups, the organization and administration of technical activities, such as user-based support, knowledge sharing sessions and the provision of administrative support throughout the technical team.

Terms of service

Working hours are 35 per week.

The annual leave is 29 days a year plus holidays (pro rata for part-time staff).

The job description contains the duties of this job on the closing date. It is rated as APM 5 against the benchmark profile for this grade. It may be necessary to change these duties from time to time within the degree description.

The appointment is subject to the general conditions of employment for staff of professional services (grades 3 to 6 included).
