Job description: The Department of Education has been granted the status of Teaching School Hub at Colyton Grammar School. Colyton is one of the 87 national-level schools that have received this award, which is awarded to schools with a track record of exceptional learner achievement and leading training in other schools.
The Colyton Teaching School Hub is a center of excellence for teacher training and development, covering 194 schools in the four Devon districts of East Devon, Mid-Devon, North Devon and Torridge. The money will be used to provide national and local training programs. In doing so, Colyton will draw on its strengths in curriculum, leadership and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), as well as a partnership of schools, trusts and training providers.
The Colyton Teaching School Hub is provided as part of a partnership with the Kingsbridge Teaching School Hub called the South West Institute for Teaching (SWIFT). The management, leadership and staff of the two hubs are fully integrated, including the delivery of services. SWIFT represents an important partnership to improve the educational experience and outcomes for students in Suidwes, as we can attract, retain and develop the best teachers.
This is a new post created as part of a general extension of SWIFT services to schools, covering initial teacher training, early career framework, national professional qualifications and a universal teaching training program, delivered in collaboration with a broader partnership of leading schools and Trusts in the region. The successful applicant will be directly employed by Colyton Grammar School, but will fulfill the role in the hubs of Colyton and Kingsbridge Teaching School and the larger SWIFT partnership.
Main duties and responsibilities:
The postman will have to take general responsibility for the administration of data and communication systems. They will ensure that information collected for our courses and activities is effectively and accurately collected, managed, reported and shared as required. They will also ensure that we have effective and streamlined systems for communicating with schools and other stakeholders. The postmaster is expected to play a key role in further developing the excellent reputation that Colyton and SWIFT have among local schools and partnerships.
