New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking to appoint an Assistant Compliance Officer to report to the Chief Compliance Officer.

The NYUAD Office of Compliance and Risk Management (OCRM) is responsible for developing and implementing a compliance program that advises NYUAD to carry out its mission with integrity and compliance with NYUAD’s legal, regulatory and ethical responsibilities. The NYUAD compliance program consists of various elements, including well-communicated policies and procedures, ongoing training and education, and risk management for compliance.

NYUAD OCRM is also responsible for the proper coordination and integration of the compliance program with New York University’s global compliance program.

Key

Responsibilities:

  • Make direct contact with division heads on behalf of NYUAD OCRM when carrying out the responsibilities of NYUAD OCRM
  • Conduct compliance training and awareness-raising programs related to the University’s Code of Ethics and Policy Clash (and other applicable policies) for NYUAD’s administrative and academic units
  • Liaise directly with director, learning and development on NYUAD OCRM training and awareness program
  • Liaise directly with the Provost’s office on faculty policy awareness sessions and monitoring the administration of the annual disclosure process for academic commitment conflicts and conflicts of interest.
  • Collaborate with human resources to develop and implement greater community awareness and participation for OCRM training and awareness sessions
  • Facilitate the process of disseminating administrative conflicts of interest, including reviewing, analyzing and preparing management plans for any identified conflicts
  • Facilitate policy review administration, including review of all policies and procedures in collaboration with departmental members of the policy review committee
  • Improve the compliance training and awareness program in collaboration with Human Resources (including the development and implementation of iLearn training modules that complement a living code of ethics and other training and awareness programs)
  • Direct NYUAD directors participating in the NYUAD Compliance and Risk Management Working Group, and other NYUAD Academic and Administrative Unit Heads to compile annual compliance training statistics for annual and semi-annual reports to the audit committees
  • Facilitate NYUAD divisions’ compliance training program development, as appropriate
  • Develop and update the content of the OCRM intranet page
  • Research various compliance issues, including reviewing university policies, best practices, laws and regulations in various areas of compliance risks, such as research compliance, privacy, public safety and other areas of compliance risks
  • Represent NYUAD OCRM on standing EHS committees and other meetings as requested by the Chief Compliance Officer
  • Represents the NYUAD Office of Compliance and Risk Management in various Global Network University Committees, including the NYU Compliance Working Group and Risk Officers
  • Lead and hold meetings with NYUAD contractors regarding contractual compliance with the SCC
  • Lead and hold update meetings with NYUAD directors and departments responsible for operational service management to discuss contractor performance and SCC compliance
  • Perform monthly monitoring activities and work compliance audits, including:
  • Conduct monthly interviews with NYUAD contract staff to ensure suppliers meet NYUAD labor standards
  • Conduct audits of supplier books and records and participate in inspections of accommodation
  • Ensure compliance with NYUAD labor standards
  • Receive and document labor complaints
  • Develop and lead training and awareness sessions for suppliers regarding their obligations with the Labor Standards
  • Participate and take note of the workbox discussions led by contract staff suppliers

Require

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Certification, license, demonstrated experience in compliance, audit or human resources

Preferable

Education:

  • Postgraduate degree in compliance, audit, investigative, risk management, human resources, higher education, law or other relevant fields
  • Certification, license in audit, compliance or risk management
  • Proven professional experience in compliance, auditing or human resources in higher education

Require

Experience:

  • 5 10 years relevant compliance, legal, audit, risk management experience, human resources or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

The ability to structure and conduct interviews to gather requirements * Analytical skills to analyze the requirements and define scope and deliveries. Strong attention to detail to summarize, analyze and report compliance risk information

  • Leadership skills in working with diverse constituencies, consensus building, the ability to identify risks and develop risk reduction strategies
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail are required to summarize, analyze and report risk information

Preferable

Experience:

  • Regional experience in compliance, legal, audit, investigation, risk management experience or human resources
  • Regional experience for higher education
  • Experience in local labor monitoring
